Maritime Hotel - named after the legendary Belfast blues club/beatnik hangout of the 60's - is a vehicle for the folky acoustic pop of Brighton-based Northern Irish songwriter Brian Bell...alongside tracks recorded with Brighton producer/soundtrack composer Simon Wilkinson, there has been recent collaboration in Brittany with Irish producer/guitarist Topher Loudon (member of folk festival faves The Churchfitters and acclaimed figure on Breton roots/rock 'n roll circuit) and American arranger/bassist Joel Bennett. Also involved in these sessions are Breton virtuoso Vassili Caillosse (pedal-steel, dobro, banjo & slide guitar) and drummer Rufus O'Callaghan. In Brighton, Maritime Hotel's music has also had input from seaside musos Jason Murphy, Stewart Babbs and members of Caramel Jack and the Mountain Firework Company. Maritime Hotel have also featured in live radio sessions with Juice and BBC South Live as well as gigging at venues such as the Komedia and Hanbury Ballroom.
