Trumpton Comes Alive!

With an inspired title, this evening was a heartfelt tribute to Freddie Phillips’ music from the three Trumptonshire series. Beginning with the opening titles’ xylophone and music box, Glen Richardson’s narration and singing was a dead ringer for Brian Cant. The seemingly simple melodies were surprisingly intricate with the guitarists struggling with the fingerwork at times. The whole audience were either smiling or lost in reminiscence throughout this magical trip down memory lane. The songs of Windy Miller, PC McGarry and co were lovingly recreated with just two guitars and a very busy percussionist and the clockmaker’s piece was exquisite.
