Light bites: Horses for courses

The Rockinghorse appeal, a local charity that supports sick children in Sussex, is seeking the help of local restaurants to raise £10,000 by the end of August this year.

They have already had fantastic support from Gingerman Restaurants and Fishy Fishy but are now inviting others to join in the effort with their exciting new fund raising idea – Horses For Courses.

We asked how it works; “We have thought of some great ways for restaurants to get involved without taking up to much time or necessarily leaving them out of pocket.

“You could add and optional £1 to your customers bill, you could select a signature dish from your menu and choose to donate the profits form that dish or you could simply place cards on each table that invite customers to make a voluntary contribution.”
Rockinghorse supports sick children in Sussex, including those receiving treatment in the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, (the Alex) and the Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU) in Brighton. More than 44,000 children and babies are treated by the Alex and the TMBU every year.

With the help of restaurants and their customers Rockinghorse will be able to continue to provide life-saving and cutting-edge equipment, while ensuring that young patients are treated in an environment that is better suited to their needs.

If you would like to visit any of their projects to experience firsthand how your involvement can make a difference, or if you would like to meet to discuss opportunities for working with Rockinghorse then they would love to hear from you.
