The Amex Stadium is set to go green for 2012’s Eco Technology Show


The UK’s first Eco Technology Show is fast approaching. Taking place at the Amex Stadium on 15 and 16 June, the event will see over 100 exhibitors showcase a range of renewable and sustainable technologies, alongside features and zones including Eco Build, Design, Energy, Transport, Home, Food and Lifestyle.

Travel Zone
Who knew you could get to 60mph in just 3.7 seconds with 0 tail pipe emissions? See how with the sleek Tesla, the first electric super car in the world, alongside the Electric Bluebird, the fastest electric car in the world. The Lightning Car Company are also bringing their British home grown 100 per cent electric super car the Lightning GT. Visitors will have a chance to see the electric motorbike that took the UK alternative energy racing record last year, the Weald Electric Bike, as well as the Brighton-designed and manufactured, solar-powered eBike. The exciting range of transport systems, bikes and cars also includes the Vauxhall Ampera, Mitsubishi I-MIEV, Nissan Leaf, Renault Twizy, BMW, SMART and Mini.


Build Energy & Home Zone
With fuel prices doubling every five years, over 4 million households in fuel poverty (10% per cent of annual income is now spent on heating your home) and a reduction in fuel security (we are now a net importer of energy) alternatives are needed. The show’s Build Energy and Home Zone will feature all the products and services that businesses and the public need to retrofit, build or improve their building or home. They include insulation, heat pumps, biomass boilers and heaters, thermostats, draught proofing, lighting systems, fittings and controls, interiors, renewable energy and water saving options, living habitats, sustainable design and construction.

Information, Education & Lifestyle Zone
Recognising that a lifestyle change is essential, the Lifestyle and Education Zone will have a range of products for environmentally friendly living, education providers and networks, as well as jewellery and art. There will also be opportunities to test out new technologies including solar bikes, e-trikes and Segways on the test track in the interactive zone.

Workshops & Talks
Alongside the main exhibition, there will also be 27 free talks to choose from over the two days at this year’s Eco Technology Show. You can learn about everything from domestic water and waste efficiency, how to save money on your energy bills and how many bicycles it would take to power your home . You’ll also learn how to deliver a whole house retrofit, how to make your home warmer, healthier and cheaper to run and how to find the best solar deal.

Greg Barker MP, Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change, will be talking about the latest developments in the government strategy for energy efficiency retrofit and The Green Deal. Patrick Allcorn, assistant director for the Community and District Energy, Heat and Industry Directorate of the DECC will be talking about the future strategy on government incentives on renewable heat. There will also be a range of low carbon transport options and an overview of government incentives to save money. Local, sustainable food & drink market
Did you know that we have a multitude of award winning sustainable food and drink producers on our doorstep? The local and sustainable market will be a fantastic showcase of organic fruit and veg, cheese, chutneys, pickles and jams, sausages, meat, fish and pies, cakes, ice cream and of course, local beer and wine. Visitors are encouraged to come and meet their local producer to buy and try the wonderful delicacies they have to offer.

Smart Business Conference
Co-located at the Eco Technology Show, Brighton’s first Smart Business Conference will host leading international industry figures, pioneering business leaders and politicians on 15 June. Confirmed speakers include local MPs Caroline Lucas, Greg Barker and Norman Baker.

This high level one-day conference for the private and public sector will address the latest strategies, tools and green technology products and services to support sustainable growth within business and local government.
