Jesus Christ Superstar

This production won’t shock or offend like the 1970s blockbuster but it has all the power and energy of the original Rock Opera. Tim Rogers (Judas) gives it a very virile, human kick-start, excellently amplified without any distortion so you can hear every word. This is true for the whole cast, however strong their voices. Veteran performer Glenn Carter (Jesus) begins with a calm gravitas and some finely controlled almost falsetto top notes, then in ‘Gethsemane’ both his acting and his voice become supercharged. The set pieces of Mary Magdalene, Herod, Pilate and the priests maintain the pathos and power.
