Three Upcoming Games To Watch Out For This Summer

This year has already been a brilliant year for gaming; with the release of newer and more powerful systems, groundbreaking games and blockbusters that broke records, the games industry has never been busier. Below are three games on my personal wish list that really stood out among the sea of upcoming releases for the rest of 2022.

STRAY

Stray

Lost, alone and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city.

Stray is a third-person cat adventure game developed by BlueTwelve Studio, a small team from the south of France. Set amidst the detailed, neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. You must roam your surroundings both high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the many mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by curious droids and dangerous creatures.

See the world through the eyes of a cat and interact with the environment in playful ways. Be stealthy, nimble, silly, and sometimes as annoying as possible with the strange inhabitants of this mysterious world.

This game has been in the corner of my eye for some time now. Visually, it looks stunning, and the gameplay looks engaging too. (The fact the main character is adorable is also an added bonus!)

Stray is available for pre-purchase now, ahead of its release on the 19th of July. It’ll be out on PS4, PS5 and Windows.

EXOPHOBIA

Exophobia

You find yourself alone in a human spaceship taken over by hostile alien soldiers. Explore and fight your way to find the last human survivors.

Next on the list is Exophobia, an intense, fast-paced and strategic combat game, invoking similar feelings to games like DOOM and Metroid. Retro-inspired with a ‘2.5D’ game world, you can upgrade your weapon to unlock new areas for exploration and become more powerful and resourceful in combat with exciting abilities.

You need fast reflexes plus clever tactics, and learning enemy behaviour is key to successfully eliminate the unforgiving hordes of aliens, including menacing bosses, to discover the truth behind their massacre.

The Music sounds incredible, and the game captures the retro aesthetic perfectly! Definitely one to watch out for in the future.

The game releases later this year on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, XBOX One/Series X and PC

SPIDER-MAN REMASTERED

Spider-Man Remastered

The worlds of Peter Parker and Spider-Man collide in an original action-packed story soon to be available on PC.

Developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel, and optimised by Nixxes Software, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered finally brings the award-winning former Playstation exclusive to PC, complete with updated graphics and the additional DLC campaigns included.

Set in New York, the game introduces us to an experienced Peter Parker who’s fighting big crime and iconic villains in the streets of Manhattan. At the same time, he’s struggling to balance his chaotic personal life and career while the fate of the whole city rests upon his shoulders.

Following the events of the main game, experience the DLC content of Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps, three additional story chapters with new missions and challenges to discover, which is now included at no extra cost.

Having played the original game on PS4, the remastered edition is a welcome addition to the newer generation of Spider-Man games, especially with the sequel having been teased by Insomniac. I know a few people who have been eager to play this game on PC since the Playstation release all the way back in 2018.

It will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store on the 19th of August.
