Brighton Lights: Smuggling Biros

Guy Craig Mackail Smith, Jay Legate

Richard Shayler talks parcels, pens and team players…

It happened. TV happened. And we all made it happen! We’ve been on air for a week and a bit now. It’s really happening. Guy Lloyd has bought lots of new biros, so he’s prepared to sign autographs. Lynn Ruth Miller has bought a hat to keep her from getting mobbed, and the rest of the team, well, they haven’t really changed much.

Actually, I bought some new pens too and William, the director, bought a new hat. I was signing for a postal delivery at the bar and Guy Lloyd got very jealous; his biros are still in their packaging. Lynn Ruth Miller was also jealous… of William’s new hat. It has now gone missing. Everyone thinks it was Lynn. (But it was actually me. Sorry, Will!)

Ok, so yes, we’ve been on air for a week now and Brighton Lights is going from strength to strength. Last week we had the amazing Seth Morgan as our resident musician. His beautiful acoustic guitar music soothed the crew into a purring, contented mess. So much so, I’m really impressed we managed to get the shows filmed and ready for TV!

Band Prof Elemental

This week we’ve got Professor Elemental. He’s an MC, explorer, mad professor and exotic dancer; well, he is according to his Twitter. I would also include stylish, well spoken, and all-round top bloke to that list.

We’ve got a diverse selection of guests, too, chatting with Lynn and Guy on the sofa. Bruce Williams, the artist behind Brighton’s Kissing Wall, stopped by for a chat. He really does love kissing! And walls. He was on the sofa with Clare Mackie, an illustrator. She didn’t like kissing quite as much, but she did say how much a well constructed wall impresses her.

Then we had Brighton and Hove Albion player Craig Mackail-Smith talking about football with Latest TV’s sports guru, Jay Legate. Well, they started off talking about football, but the conversation swiftly moved on to kissing and walls. It seems Bruce Williams has set quite the trend for the week.

Comedy duo Brian & Krystall were our next guests talking to Lynn. They came all the way from London, and they really didn’t disappoint. They met at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008 and have been gigging together ever since. They are a unique comedy double act, who gave Lynn a run for her money in the jokes department.

Lastly, Guy was chatting to the comedian Simon Evans and the wonderful Laura Nixon, a Marilyn Monroe impersonator. Simon is the hottest comic out there, and Laura likes it hot… well, some of the time anyway!

Safe to say, it’s quite a happening show. Lots of music’s happening, plenty of guests happen to drop by, and an array of jokes that just, well … happen. If you’re flicking through your Freeview TV and you happen to stop on channel 8, why not watch? Wednesday to Saturday at 7pm.

Now, did anyone happen to see that hat? Or those pens, actually. The delivery man’s here; Guy, lend us one of those biros please mate!
