Yak Yak Yak: Nom Nom Ombar!

If you, like me, dread the oncoming halloween season then I have a few ideas that might be of use. Halloween for me was always a fun evening of bobbing and ducking for apples, roasted chestnuts, turnip lanterns, not pumpkin, and treacle toffee – always home made and always tooth rottingly sweet. Delicious as an occasional but not sensible in hindsight.

Now of course the evening is dominated by the American import of Trick or Treat. I hate it with a vengeance and it’s not because I am a kill joy, far from it, I love fun in its many forms but traipsing kids from door to door in the quest for sweets does not seem like a sensible idea to me. And here in Brighton, where for so many of us we seek to eat better and healthier.

My solution is to go out so I do not buy into the whole sugar fest, but if I had kids I would not want to exclude them from something that their peers would be doing.

I hate Trick or Treat with a vengeance

So if you are joining in then how about offering fresh fruits to the little demons and devils that knock on your door? Or even better try this delicious product that I have found – Ombar, delicious vegan, organic, raw and dairy-free chocolate!

Now I’m not easily led and over the years I have tried more healthy food alternatives – but very few actually taste as good as the real thing. Ombar tastes better!

I snacked on their chocolate buttons, devoured a bar of the 72% raw cacao and was sent into choccy heaven with a bar of chocolate filled with a mix of raspberry and coconut, wow!
