It’s a great premise – recognising several of the women from history who have made major contributions to science, whilst at the same time acknowledging the same number of individual men who have impacted Baines’ own life. With some quirky facts that stop anyone drifting off (you’ve got to love a borrowed ear trumpet proving instrumental in the assembly of the first Irish aircraft), and a stage persona that proved both liekable and entertaining, Baines’ show is fun and frothy – although without the gravitas or major punch the idea might suggest. With clear performance and writing skills in evidence, this was an enjoyable step on her road up to her inevitable successful recognition as a clear comic voice.
